Most of our passengers are flying for the very first time. And nearly all of them worry about the same thing: “so how does it actually go?” Here’s the whole thing, minute by minute — from arriving at the airfield to landing.
Step 1. Arrival at the airfield (15 minutes before departure)
The flight starts at the “Hydropark” mini-airfield in Kyiv. Come about fifteen minutes early: that’s enough time to sort out the paperwork, meet the team and catch your breath.
Step 2. The briefing and meeting your pilot
Before take-off there’s a short safety briefing: how to get in, how to fasten your belt, how to use the headset. The pilot will answer any question you have — including “so how many flight hours do you have?”, because we have nothing to hide. This is usually the moment when nerves turn into excitement.
Step 3. The flight
The Robinson R44 lifts off smoothly — none of that “floor dropping away” feeling people who dislike heights are bracing for. It feels closer to a car that has gently risen above the city. In the cabin you get a headset with two-way intercom: you hear the pilot, the pilot hears you, you can ask questions — and he’ll point out what you’re looking at below.
Photos and video are entirely up to you, at no extra cost: phone, camera, whatever you like. The windows are large and every seat is a good one to shoot from.
Step 4. Landing and afterwards
The flight ends right where it began, at “Hydropark”. After that come the photos beside the helicopter (the classic shot nobody skips) and, from what we’ve seen, a few weeks of telling friends all about it.
Common worries — honest answers
“I’m afraid of heights.” Our most grateful passengers are precisely the ones who were afraid. In a helicopter there’s no edge to look down from: there’s a cabin, a seat and belts. The pilot can keep the flight as gentle as possible — just say the word.
“I get motion sickness.” A helicopter flies level, without the jolting run down a runway. Across thousands of flights, cases of motion sickness have been isolated. If you’re concerned, avoid a heavy meal beforehand.
“What should I wear?” Ordinary comfortable clothes suited to the weather. No special gear is needed. The one piece of advice: skip hats and scarves that blow away easily.
“Is it safe?” The flight is operated by an experienced pilot on a Robinson R44 — one of the most widely used civil helicopters in the world. Every passenger is insured. If the weather looks doubtful, the flight is rescheduled free of charge.
